Dried botanical installations designed to integrate into contemporary residential and commercial interiors

OUR PROCESS

Design by Nature works across the UK and internationally alongside interior designers, architects, developers, and private clients to create long-term botanical works conceived as part of a space’s architectural language. We develop cohesive, purpose-led installations across large-scale environments. Ranging from hanging features, wall-based works, and freestanding sculptural forms to extensive collections of individual vase arrangements across multiple rooms, each resolved as part of a unified spatial narrative.

We can engage at any stage of a project, though we are often brought in early to work alongside the wider design team, developing botanical installations as purposeful elements within the architectural scheme rather than decorative additions.

Each project is approached as a sculptural composition. Dried botanicals are treated as material elements, with careful consideration given to form, scale, negative space, texture, and tonal balance in relation to surrounding finishes, furniture, and light. We provide clear design presentations, including curated colour palettes and selected dried botanicals.

Installations are designed to endure. Fabricated, delivered, and installed with sensitivity to their architectural context, each work is created to live within a space for months or years. Whether a single large feature or a multi-room scheme.

Switzerland project

For this Switzerland-based project, we collaborated with interior designers Portia Fox to develop a series of 46 bespoke dried botanical arrangements for multiple areas of the interior. Each piece was designed in response to the surrounding materials and colour palette, ensuring cohesion across the space while allowing individual compositions to remain distinct. Long-lasting dried botanicals were selected to provide enduring presence with minimal maintenance.

Carl Hansen & Søn - London Showroom

For the renovation of the Carl Hansen & Søn showroom, we were commissioned to design two large permanent dried botanical installations, plus a selection go individual vases. A large sculptural entrance piece and a large-scale hanging element within the showroom we the main features. The installations were developed to sit in harmony with the furniture and architectural context, offering visual impact without overpowering the space. Both works remain in situ more than four years on, highlighting the durability of dried botanicals in commercial environments.

MASAJ London

For Masaj, a contemporary wellness practice, we were commissioned to create a series of dried botanical elements for the waiting area, treatment rooms, and reception. Designed in response to a clean, minimal brief, the botanicals provide a quiet connection to nature while remaining fully integrated within the interior scheme.
